EPISODE 1 "They Came to Be"
A meeting is being held by the Governor of Etobiius with his Department Heads and the Council of Scholars at the Hall of Governance. They are discussing the large storm that is approaching their island and what they were going to do. “Staroverticus what say you regarding the forecast for this storm” asked Leuquotus the Governor. “By knowing the signs in the cloud patterns and the time of year, there is a deadly storm approaching like the one we had a few years back” replied Staroverticus the Astronomer.
“Medicusum what is the status of your department” asked Leuquotus. “We have a backup plan in place for the farms and their orchards. We will wait and see which options will go into place after the storm. Our fishing and naval fleet are being moved to the Safe Harbor under the command of Admiral Neptatuno. The main storm shelter is prepared with extra cots and blankets as well as food and water. The supplies of medicinal plant extracts are sufficient and the people in charge of those location are ready” said Medicusum. “Very well” said Leuquotus as the meeting came to adjourn.
The participants of the meeting began walking out and some discussed other things of interests. “General Cartuveral how is my son Darmax doing in your class” asked the mathematician Protonumerus. “He is doing very well, he is one of my brightness students” answered General Cartuveral as a smile came to Protonumerus as they left the meeting. Following behind them were Astronomer Staroverticus and Governor Leuquotus.” Staroverticus have you seen Ambassador Outaforium lately” asked Leuquotus.
“I did, two days ago at his residence” answered Staroverticus. “And” continued Leuquoutus. “We were talking about space and the vastness that it is, when he mentioned that there are alien beings from distant planets among us and that he has been in contact with them” said Staroverticus. “Then what happened” asked Leuquotus. “During a recent meeting with the aliens, Outaforium was given plans of an engine that operated by using water. They gave it to him so he could share it with us” replied Staroverticus looking up into the sky.
“After receiving the plans Outaforium had a meeting with Admiral Neptatuno and they discussed using the engine on different size ships” answered Staroverticus pausing for a moment before continuing. “The Admiral said he would have a few of his naval architect instructors begin drawing up plans to build a vessel with the engines” replied Staroverticus placing his right hand on his bearded chin.
After the meeting Leuquotus is walking by the center court within the Dome when he happens to see Outaforium. The Dome of Knowledge is a structure of 576 feet in diameter and 144 feet in height. There are 18 beams radiating out from the center to the outer edge of the dome resting on deep buried pilings. They are 10 feet in diameter and are 12 feet high at ground level and a stone wall that is 4 feet thick encircling the outer perimeter of the Dome. It’s roof is made of a thick canvas sheathing and has rain gutters in place to catch the rain water and directed to an underground aquifer. The Dome is a quarter mile away from Hall of Governance.
“Outaforium may I have a word with you” said Leuquotus. “Why yes, what is it” he answered back. “I heard that you had been in contact with the aliens and had shared some information about an engine system” said Leuquotus. Outaforium hesitated for a moment while recalling Leuquotus question, gathering his thoughts “Yes I did and I informed Admiral Neptatuno about it. He said he would start looking into it and make a scale model when he has the materials to make the engine with” answered Outaforium still thinking of that meeting that he had with the aliens.
“Is this the same engine that runs their flying ships” asked Leuquotus. “No, the plans that was given to me are much simpler compared to their engines” answered Outaforium. “Oh, what type of material will be needed to make it” asked Leuquotus. “It is called steel a material made of iron, carbon and limestone. They, the aliens will get the raw materials for us and have other plans in how it can be melted and used” explained Outaforium.
“That sounds very interesting, let’s talk about this some more at a later time after the storm, please excuse me for now I have another appointment to attend too Outaforium” said Leuquotus as he went on his way.
Outaforium watched Leuquotus as he disappeared into the crowd that was flowing out of the Dome. Outaforium hears his name being called out from behind him and turns around to see who it was. “Zor 2 what brings you here” asked Outaforium. “Did you mention time travel to Leuquotus” asked Zor 2. “No, just the engine system, the subject of time travel is something that will be discussed at a later date” said Outaforium. Nodding his head Zor 2 said “I came to tell you that there will be another meeting on board the ship in a few hours. I will see you again” as he too disappeared into the crowd.
Away from the crowds, four friends have gotten out of the water at Turquoise Lagoon after a workout on their hydrofoils. The lagoon is to the south, a half a mile away from Myoperus. The foursome had been on their hydrofoils for a couple of hours riding the winds swell further out and the small swell near shore. After getting out and putting away their hydrofoil into the storage locker they walked over to a small waterfall stream flowing over a small cliff next to the beach. Each took turns rinsing off, two of the friends discussed what they were going to do afterwards. Myrotheus says to Zeumo “I have to stop by the harbor and see Dartolo, he needs some help in designing a new fishing boat.” “I have some time before my next class can I come along” asked Zeumo as they waited to use the small waterfall shower. “Ok” said Myrotheus.
Abethena who is the female of the group had finished rinsing off and walked over to her towel. Darmax was next to rinse off followed by Myrotheus and Zeumo. Abethena was looking at Darmax who was thinking about the recent project of the enginge system that he and a few others were working on. “What are you thinking about Darmax” asked Abethena. “A new project which I’m not at liberty to discuss Abethena” mentioned Darmax. Myrotheus and Zeumo looked at Darmax and both were curious in what Darmax was working on. “Come on Darmax don’t be so technical, what is it” asked Zeumo.
Changing the subject Abethena mentioned “See everyone tomorrow” as she waved and went on her way. After the rinse Myrotheus, Zeumo and Darmax were walking up to the fork in the road. Darmax took the high road back to the campus and Myrotheus and Zeumo took the low road to the harbor.Along the way Myrotheus and Zeumo crossed paths with the Philosopher Faroftis who happened to be on a daily walk around the harbor and were heading home. “How are you Sir” asked Myrotheus. “Good, thank you” replied Faroftis who is wearing a wide brim straw hat and a white toga, he had a wooden walking cane to help in moments of need. “Faroftis what is the purpose of life” asked Zeumo seeking to enhance his knowledge.
“What is the purpose of life” he paraphrased the question before answering. “It is my belief that the purpose of life is the pursuit of Happiness, Love and Wisdom to become a better person and to have faith in a spiritual power” answered Faroftis looking at the two young men. The two friends stood in silence contemplating the insight that Faroftis had just conveyed to them. “I can see you two will do well on this road that you travel on. Continue with your studies and learn” said Faroftis as he concluded the conversation by saying “Good day” and continued on his way.
Myrotheus and Zeumo resumed their conversation before stopping and looking back at Faroftis, then at each other. ”What do you think Zeumo” asked Myrotheus. “We have a long ways to go compared to Farofthis” replied Zeumo as they continued on their way. They arrived at the harbor and walked over to Dartolo’s boat where he and his deck hands were busy getting ready to move his boat to the Safe Harbor of the Westside of the island. He was told earlier of the coming storm and was getting ready to depart to the other side.
“Myrotheus there has been a change in plans. I was informed of a pending storm and I must hurry to the Safe Harbor in preparation of the storm. I thank you for coming and I do want to get your ideas on a new boat, but for now I must leave” replied Dartolo as he pointed to one deckhand to pushed off with an oar off the docks as he wave at Myrotheus and Zeumo while steering clear of the dock. “Well that’s that. Let go back to the campus and see if there is a lecture we can sit in on” said Myrotheus. Zeumo agreed and they began walking back to the fork in the road.
Abethena reached home and sees her neighbor Helena returning from class. “How was your class” asked Abethena. “It went well and I learned a lot in agriculture today, but a few of the boys were paying more attention to me than their studies” answered Helena. A smile came to Abethena after hearing Helena day’s experience about the boys in her class. Then they would continue theirs discussion about the class and the latest gossip of what the other girls were doing.
“You know Diana is very serious about Clementus and he her. Diana says they will marry, but haven’t told her parents yet” mentioned Abethena. “I knew that they liked each other, but how will they manage” questioned Helena. “Clementus and Diana will live at her parent’s house at first. Then Clementus will seek employment and go to school part time. He will apply for a loan through the governor’s office and build a house of their own” said Abethena.
Back at the academy Darmax was looking over the plans of the engine on the front table of the class with Demetres his fellow classmate. “What do you make of this design” asked Demetres as the other select few was looking at the diagram with them. “It is much more advanced than anything taught to us previously and it is going take some time to make it happen” said Darmax. “Please take your seats Admiral Neptatuno would like to go over this project with you all” said Captain Ysathora one of the officers / instructors involved in the project.
The Admiral stepped up to the front of class and began his speech. “Earlier this week our Commander General Cartuveral came to me with these plans of an engine and information on how to develop the materials for it, that is on the table. He wanted me to be in charge of this project and so I agreed. I’m getting a head of myself, first he became aware of it by Ambassador Outaforium, who from his previous experiences with the Sky people was given these drawings earlier this week. They communicated with him by a voice coming from a space ship in the sky as he was sitting in his backyard.”
“They told Ambassador Outaforium if they can build a vessel with this engine system, a whole new world was at our door step. They, meaning the Sky people wanted to share an idea for him to convey to us. If we are successful they may share other ideas with us. His answer was yes and they forwarded the plans and it materialized on a table that was nearby. After which the ambassador would notify General Cartuveral” said Admiral Neptatuno. After the depositing the drawings of the engine, the space ship soon disappeared in the blink of an eye” said the Admiral as he moved to the table where the drawing were located. Then he looked over to Commander Yuratotacles “I would like to introduce you to Commander Yuratotacles who will introduce his instructors for this project. Commander Yuratotacles.”
The commander step forward and introduce his instructors. “Besides being instructors here at the academy, they are also officers of the military operations on this island. May I introduce Captain Marsutus in charge of the propulsion group, Captain Fluidious in charge of the hydrodynamic structure of the vessel, and Captain Accounto in charge of system integration and logistics. Each group will have four students and they will work with the captains. We do not know the duration of this project so we will evaluate it every three months”.
The captains started calling out the students names that will be part of their group. Captain Marutus called out Darmax and Demetatres along with Pterathemum and Diangus. The other captains called out their students and the groups began organizing their agendas and schedules. Captain Marutus told his group that they will meet after the storm at the Safe Harbor to go over some ideas regarding the plans.
Leaving the meeting with his fellow members in the group, Darmax looked over to Demetatres who said “The main questions is where are we going to work from, what equipment and tools are we going to need, when one procedure ends and another begins, how to test it and why” said Demetatres, Darmax was visualizing in his mind the steps that Demetatres was talking about and commented “We have to think outside the box Demetatres.”
At the central forum within the Dome a crowd had gathered and Myrotheus and Zeumo are listening to Astronomer Staroverticus who was talking about the sun and how the earth and the planets circled around it to cause the seasons. Alongside of him was Mathematician Protonumerus who interjected how many days it took to make one cycle and how it related to the calendar by the day, the week and the month.
“Look Zeumo, its Darmax on the other side of the stage. Let’s go see him” remarked Myrotheus as they started to walk over to him. ”Hey Darmax, what are you up too” asked Zeumo. “Taking a break from my project class, I felt overwhelmed going over some drawing. So I thought of asking my father some question in regards to that” said Darmax looking over to his father Protonumerus.“Ok, I feel like getting something to eat, can you meet us at the market place after you talk with your father. We can go over to the theater and watch a play this afternoon” remarked Zeumo. “Sorry guys about the play, but I can meet at the market place. I need to get some food before going back to the project.
Myrotheus and Zeumo was sitting on a bench by a tree when Darmax came up to them. “Have some bread and goat cheese, take what you want we have plenty” said Myrotheus as Darmax pulled a piece of bread and cut a piece of cheese. “That hit the spot, sure was hungry” said Darmax chewing on the bread. “Here have some water” said Zeumo handing Darmax a horned leather pouch with the opening in the horn spout that was capped.
“So how is the project coming along Darmax” asked Zeumo. “There is a lot to understand and figure out. It is uncharted waters as far as I am concerned” said Darmax. “Go with the flow and you will get there” said Zeumo.
“I think your suggestion just open the door to the possibilities” remarked Darmax in an excited expression after a revelation came to him. “I did” said Zeumo. “Yes you did” said Darmax picking up an apple and taking a bite before rushing back to his classroom to review the drawings again. “I have to be going home Zeumo. I will see you later” said Myrotheus. “Yes I will be leaving soon myself” replied Zeumo picking up a cluster of grapes and began eating them one by one. Sitting there watching the crowd walk by. A voice that he knew says “What are you up to Zeumo” as he turned to see it was Abethena. “Care for some grapes” asked Zeumo grabbing a bunch and placing it in front of him. “Why yes. Thank you” she said as a smile came to Zeumo.
“What are you doing here” he asked. “I’m on an errand for my mother. She wanted some vegetables and meat for dinner tonight and sent me here” was her response. “Well, may I be of assistance” he asked. “Sure, let go check it out” she continued. Zeumo got up, put his supplies in the basket that he had purchased. “Hows your day been” she asked. “Well, I think I have been transformed somewhat from rough to smooth in my way of viewing peace of mind” he said looking into her eyes and trying to impress her with sophistication in the words that he has chosen.
“Well, well I can see that the day has given you enlightenment beyond what I expected you to say” Abethena said with a chuckle. “Come my lady and we shall go forth and procure your items” as he extended his elbow out and she wrap her left arm around it. “Shall we go my prince” she said with a smile as they walked into the crowd of shoppers.
Governor Leuquotus and General Cartuveral are talking about the coming storm. “The warning has been given and the troops and residence are getting ready” said the General. “Good” answered the Governor looking down toward the Safe Harbor in the Bay of Tranquility a mile away. In the Safe Harbor Dartolo has lashed his boat to the previous boat that had entered before him. With cushioned fenders being placed between his boat and the one already there and on the side where next boat to come in and tie up to his. Looking around Dartolo views the large marble walls embedded into the bay’s sea floor. Each wall was 12 feet high, 3 feet thick and 144 feet long with an opening of 96 feet between each wall for the boats to fit in. There was a floating dock for each wall in the event of a storm surge of water.
The Harbor Master was in charge and made sure the lines were secure and that each boat’s captain and their crew are registered with the office, and were aware of the procedures before, during and after the storm. “Well, everything is secured and locked up Dartolo” said Bartus one of Dartolo deck hands. “Good, we will meet back here after the storm” said Dartolo to Bartus and Salmino as they went from one boat to another to get to the dock under the watchful eyes of the Harbor Master’s men on the docks.
The following day there was a calm in the morning before the clouds came in and “The Horns of Danger” sounded and the winds began to increase, the people of the city went to their shelters. The main force of the winds hit with torrential rains flooding the streets and roads. The hollowing winds and the debris flying around lasted for a couple of hours. Then calm came and the people went out to survey the damage. But before the all clear sign was called, another warning was being issued. The Horns of Danger was once again blown to indicate the tail end of storm was approaching and the people again prepared for the deluge. With the passing of the storm, the days returned to normal and everyone went back to their routine.
Zeumo stops by to see Myrotheus and he sees him with his head bent with both his hand on the small block wall in front of his parent’s house. “What is wrong Myrotheus” asked Zeumo. “My friend Dartolo was killed during the storm. A wooden board in front of his window had come loose and water was coming into his house. He went outside to fix it and a flying branch struck and killed him” answered Myrotheus taking a breath and exhaling a memory “I was remembering days gone by when I was younger and he would take me fishing and the fun times we had. I will never forget the lessons that he taught me while growing up” as tears came to his eyes.
Putting his arm around his friend’s shoulder with sympathy Zeumo said to Myrotheus “It is those memories of happy times that he has left for you. Find strength in those times to carry on”. Myrotheus stood and looked at Zeumo and said “Thank you my friend, I find comfort in your words” as he would go on and tell of his adventures of fishing and catching of fish with Dartolo as the day came to a close.
The dawn of a new day began with the sun rays reflecting the yellow, red and orange off the bottom of the clouds as it rises on the eastern horizon, the silhouette of Etobiius begins to be outlined from the darkness in the west. The morning watch takes over the helm as the weary night crew is relieved of their duties. On deck of the merchant ship "Courier of the North" is Vectorus the special envoy of Arctoprotos the King of Atlantis. He had been sent to Etobiius to inform Governor Leuquotus of what Arctoprotos wanted Leuquotus to do.
“Good morning Vectorus ” commented Captain Nemasa as he stood near the bow of the boat holding on to the side rail as the bow plowed through an ocean swell. “We should be arriving at Coral Harbor later this afternoon” mentioned the Captain. “I look forward to being on land again” remarked Vectorus. The Captain noticed a crewmember approaching him “The helmsman would like a word with Captain” said the crewman. “Very well, please excuse me Vectorus ” said the Captain as he returned to the helm.
Vectorus looked toward Etobiius with the light of day behind him, recalling why he was on board this boat. It was a month ago that he was summoned to King Arctoprotos’s palace. The King was on his balcony looking out over the city when Vectorus walked into his quarters led by the King’s servant. The King turns and looks at Vectorus and says “I am sending you to Etobiius to see Governor Leuquotus. You will inform him of what we are planning to do” said Arctoprotos.
“I have sent a messager to the Governor of your mission there and that you will explain the reason of our plan and what we are doing here to make this happen. With your help the Governor should do the same for Etobiius” said Arctoprotos. “So, I will inform the Governor that the Star people has advised you that the ocean level will rise 300 feet within a generation" replied Vectorus.
"Yes, and be in charge of drawing up the plans and coordinate the relocation project. Your assistants here will be implementing the plans you have set forth for Atlantis” said the King. “Yes, I will do as you say and monitor the updates that are being done at both” said Vectorus. “Let go over to the table where the map is located and I will show the general location I had in mind of where the new Atlantis will be. After our scouts have returned we will begin the process. We will do the same for Etobiius and both location will be under my supervision” said Vectorus.
“Yes” said the King. "Very well, I take my leave my King" said Vectorus clinching his right hand into a fist and placed it near his heart. "I will leave in a few days with the outgoing tide” as he turned to leave. Queen Netra entered the room as Vectorus bowed his head to the Queen before leaving the room. His memory faded from that moment and was thinking of Atlantis’s next move. Looking towards Etobiius, he braced himself for another swell as he thought of moving two cities and the procedures involved as the swell lifted the boat’s bow up and surge forward.
The crew's morning routine of adjusting the sail equated to the course made good, the winds increased and the whitecaps became prevalent. By the time “Courier of the North” approached Coral Harbor it was mid-afternoon. With the headlands flanking both side of the entrance into the bay where the harbor was located. The waters inside the bay were calmer as they rounded the turn from the northeast through the middle of the entrance, the Courier of the North made it way in pass the fishing boats that were anchored on the south side.
Approaching the dock where they will moor, the crew dropped the sail and brought out the long oars to row in the rest of the way. The captain noticed the damage to the piers and structures around the harbor from the previous storm that had passed prior to their arrival. They slowly approached the main terminal dock where cargo and other items were being loaded and unloaded from the ships that were there.
As they got near to the leeward side of the dock and a line was thrown to the men waiting for the toss onboard. The oars were removed from the water and the boat was pulled in. There on the dock a representative of Governor Leuquotus awaited Vectorus’s arrival. “Vectorus” the man called out from the dock. “Yes, here” as he lifted his right hand and waved. The man walked over to the side of the boat and said “The governor has been waiting for your arrival. I am Cirrus and my helpers will take yours bags” then pointing at the bags for his men to take. Please follow me to the carriage and we shall soon depart” said Cirrus.
An hour later they passed the Hall of Governance building and arrived at the Governor’s estate. Cirrus sitting across from Vectorus opens the door to the carriage and says to him “Please follow me, the Governor is waiting”. Stepping out of the carriage they are greeted with a marvelous view of the ocean and the coastline. The estate is located on a flat piece of land on the side of the mountain. The buildings of the General Assembly, the residence of the council, and the Dome of Knowledge near the City below could be seen. There by the entrance of his house was the governor.
“Vectorus how are you” asked the governor who greeted him accompanied by his wife Victoria. “I am well my friend” answered Vectorus as they entered the estate “Oh, Cirrus pour us some wine. I’m sure Vectorus would enjoy what our vineyard has produced” said the Governor as Cirrus poured 3 cups of wine and handed it to the Governor, his wife and Vectorus . A toast to our friendship” said the Governor raising his cup as did Victoria and Vectorus.
“How is King Arctoprotos” asked Leuquotus. “He is doing well and there is information that he wanted me to share with you. Perhaps we can discuss this tomorrow” said Vectorus looking at the Governor. “Yes, we can talk about that tomorrow, but for now you must be tired from your trip, please clean up and join us for dinner later this evening. Cirrus will show you to your room and come for you when dinner is ready” said Leuquotus as he pointed the way for Vectorus to follow Cirrus.
Down below at the Dome of Knowledge, Myrotheus, Darmax, Zeumo and Abethena are in their mathematics class solving problems that Professor Numerouno had issued. It was mid-way of the class and they would take a break and resume the second half of the class after 15 minutes. “Any plans for this evening” asked Zeumo to Abethena. “No, what did you have in mind” she asked. “There is a play at the amphitheater would you care to go” asked Zeumo. “Why yes, I would love too” answered Abethena. Zeumo would go into detail of when he will come by and where they will sit.
“How is the project coming along Darmax” asked Myrotheus. “We had groups made up for the different phases of the construction. Our group is discussing where and how we are going to start and finish our part” answered Darmax. The other parts of the vessel is coming along, we hope to be making more progress with some experimentation” answered Darmax without going into detail. The class resumed and everyone went back inside.
After the class Darmax went to see Demetres with some more ideas for the propulsion system that he had and would run it by him. Zeumo and Abethena were mingling with others at the amphitheater waiting for the play to begin. Later that evening at the Governor’s residence, Vectorus is dining on selected dishes of lobster, chicken and beef, along with vegetables and fruits. “This is a marvelous dinner Leuquotus, it’s been awhile since I had such a tasty meal” said Vectorus taking a sip of his wine. “The abundance of sea life and fertile soils of the island makes this location ideal” said Leuquotus.
The next morning Vectorus and Leuquotus had their meeting of where the new Atlantis was going to move too and where the new Etobiius might relocate too as well. “I will need to discuss this with my council and my military leaders and go from there. I would like you to be there and describes what you had in mind for the new Etobiius and how we will go about relocating and building the new location.
The governor sent messengers out to those people who needed to be at the meeting. Once everyone arrived he introduced Vectorus to the group. “I called this meeting today to introduce you to Vectorus who is the King’s chief architect and engineer. The King will be relocating Atlantis to a new location. He had been informed by his Star people that sea level will be rising hundreds of feet and that Atlantis and Etobiius will be underwater. Therefore Vectorus is going to be charge of the moving, what will be needed and the building of the site.
“What will cause the raise in sea level and how much time do we have before this event occur” asked General Cartuveral. “The melting of the glacier of ice to the north will cause it and it has already begun. How fast the raise will be is hard to say, but it has been estimated to rise every year will be around 3 feet” answered Vectorus. “Where is Atlantis moving too” asked Admiral Neptatuno. “It will be relocated to a larger island to the west of its current location and its land mass elevation will be high enough to be above the estimated raise” said Vectorus.
“What about us here on Etobiius” mentioned Staroverticus. “That is why I am here to determine the most likely location to move to and build” replied Vectorus as a few of the member shook their heads in agreement. Governor Leuquotus was content on the briefing that Vectorus had conveyed and conclude the meeting by saying “We will update the status of our findings in 3 months and have another meeting to let you know”.
The Governor and Vectorus would continue to discuss the matter with a few of the attendees while the others left to take care of their businesses. After going over some places that might be of interest the Governor had other business to attend to so Vectorus went the market place before visiting the Dome of Knowledge. Sitting and watching the shoppers buy their items as he was consuming an orange that he had bought. Fascinated by what he was seeing, Vectorus noticed one vender in particular that caught his attention. He walked over to that vender and asked “What is that”. The vendor answered “An abacus. It solves mathematic problems faster than trying to use your mind to find the answer” said the vendor. “Who would use that” he asked. “Anyone who wanted to solve a problem in numbers quickly” the vender replied.
“Can you show me how to use it“ asked Vectorus. “Yes” said the vendor as he began by adding and multiplying, then subtracting and dividing. After about 20 minutes Vectorus felt sure of himself using it and purchased it. Leaving the vendor’s booth Vectorus felt that there was something unique about this population and the amount of intelligence it was developing under this canopy of learning.
Vectorus went over to the Dome of Knowledge after walking around the Market Place. He entered the structure with curiosity. Looking up he noticed that on the north half of the dome had a screen net in place letting in the breeze from the north. On the south half of the dome a canvas sheets was in place and created shade from the afternoon heat. As he walked around the center Vectorus noticed a group of people in discussion, he could hear theories of this and that and questions of what if. Then as he got closer he noticed a strange mechanism. The person with it was moving the dials around and saying this is going to happen at such a time and this would be a good time to go do this.
Vectorus asked one person next to him “What is it and what is it called”. “It is a device that calculates events in the cosmo and seasonal timing besides a few other operations. It has been used for years and has been accurate. They call it Antikythera mechanism after the person who made it" said the man. “Where is this person who built this mechanism” asked Vectorus. He lives on the outskirt of the city, his house is near a waterfall by a large tree.
Vectorus went up to Antikythera’s place and came to a modest cottage with a waist high wooden fence made of vertical branches tied with horizontal branches. He could hear a voice from the back of the cottage saying “Come Homer, come here” walking around to see who was talking Vectorus sees an old man talking to his dog who was sitting next to him. Then the dog noticed Vectorus and started to bark. “Stay Homer” was the command by the old man and Homer stayed where he was sitting. “Hello, I’m looking for Antikythera” said Vectorus. “I am he” answered Antikythera.
“Can we talk about your mechanism” asked Vectorus. “Why do asked” questioned Antikythera. By trade I am a architect, an engineer, a learner of history, sciences and mathematics and I am intrigued by your device. A device that I think is way beyond what others could imagine” said Vectorus. Antikythera walked over to Vectorus and said “Welcome” and began a conversation that would last for a few hours. “You know Antikythera, it has dawn on me that Etobiius is more than just a place to worked and played, it is a center where a new intelligent culture is forming. I feel like a child in a store of magic, where life mysteries has opened up in front of me and I’m beginning to understand” said Vectorus.
“You have much to learn like I. But my time is nearly complete. It is good that you are open to all the possibilities that are before you. Wait here I will be back in a moment” said Antikythera as he slowly walked into his house and returned with his mechanism. “I want to give you this and some notes that I have accumulated over the years” said Antikythera handing his device to Vectorus. " I must go rest, it was good to have met you" said Antikythera as he turned around and reentered his house with Homer who was right behind him. “Thank you Antikythera for your gift” said Vectorus waving slowly and cherishing the moment.
Returning back to the Governor’s residence Vectorus returned to his room with the items that he purchased from the Market and the mechanism he received from Antikythera. He was going over the Antikythera mechanism and the notes when the governor stepped in and asked “How was your day”. Vectorus turned and looked at Leuquotus and said. “Very memorable, I met Antikythera and I feel like my life has changed for the better”.
“A brilliant man Antikythera is. I have met him a couple of times and each time I learn something new. He taught at the Dome of Knowledge for a while before he couldn’t travel far from his house” Leuquotus said. “Is there others like Antikythera on Etobiius” asked Vectorus. “Yes there is, the island is like a treasure trove of people and ideas” answered Leuquotus as Vectorus sat in silence with wonder in the statement made by Leuquotus.
Then Leuquotus mentioned “There is a observatory with a telescope at the peak of this mountain that can see the craters of the moon. Would you like to go there tonight” pointing up to the peak. Vectorus turned quickly to Leuquotus suggestion and said “Yes”. That evening they would go see the Astronomer Staroverticus. Upon arriving at his observatory, Staroverticus was preparing his telescope and facing towards some stars that would be known as the constellation of Orion at a later date. Staroverticus explained to Vectorus the use of mirrors to be able to observe what they were seeing. It was getting late and Vectorus was just beginning to grasp the thought of the infinite boundary of space. "Thank you for your time Staroverticus" said Vectorus. "It was my pleasure Vectorus" said Staroverticus.
The next day Vectorus mentioned to Leuquotus “I shall be returning to Atlantis in two days and convey to the King that preparation were being done for the move. After Vectorus returned to Atlantis and conveyed the news that Leuquotus was preparing to make the move. The King mentioned “Yes that will be fine, we too are getting ready with your plans of construction and the deployment schedules of ship to make the move” stated the King. “I will move my family to Etobiius for it will take a few years to accomplish the design and construction and the move of the population like that of Atlantis” explained Vectorus. “Yes, have Leuquotus accommodate you and your family with a place to stay, he shall be reimburse” said the King. Two weeks later Vectorus, his wife Artamesia and their family of two boys and one girl would sail to Etobiius with their belongings and begin the new phase of their lives and that of Etobiius.
Returning to Coral Harbor with his family, Vectorus and his family are on the dock going over their belongings. After an hour a carriage arrives to pick up Vectorus and his family. They have been taken to the governor’s residence where Cirrus is waiting, he walks up to the carriage and opened the door. “Hello Vectorus the governor is aware of your return, but was called away to a meeting and was unable to be here. He asked me to see to your needs” said Cirrus as Vectorus got out along with his wife and family. “Cirrus this is my wife Artamesia, my daughter Velidia and my sons Rocosa and Franxato” said Vectorus. “This time I will show you to the guest house on the other side of the residence. Your furnishings and other items have been placed in storage for the time being, please follow me” Cirrus instructed the guests as his helper took their luggage and followed them to their quarters.
Once settle in the guest house Vectorus got everyone together and discussed what the future had in store for them. “You will go to school here and make new friends. Your mother will teach and I will be busy designing. We will get acquainted with the people in due time and visit the different places on the island. One of the places we will be visiting is the Dome of Knowledge where the three of you will be enrolling.”
There is a knock at the entrance “Vectorus I was informed you had returned to Etobiius and brought your family with you. I want to welcome you and family to our Island and help you all in settling in and make your stay a pleasant one. Please follow me to the kitchen and will have something for all of you to eat” remarked Leuquotus walking over to Vectorus to shake his hand.Leuquotus had his cook bring some fruits, bread and other foods to eat. The boys jumped in and helped themselves. “I sure was hungry” said Fraxus. “Me too” repeated Rocosa. Velidia was eating some grapes and taking a piece of cheese and some bread. Artamesia was helping herself to what everyone else was having. Leuquotus and Vectorus step into the next room for a discussion to catch up on what had occurred and what is going to happen.
“You will need a place to stay, I know exactly the place. I will take you all there tomorrow” said Leuquotus. “That will be good, I’m sure Artamesia won’t mind” said Vectorus. The following day Leuquotus, Vectorus and Artamesia went to the house Leuquotus had mentioned. It was a villa type house with 10 rooms, a fabulous view and a large yard. Vectorus told Artamesia it 3 times the size of the house he was going to show them. She decided this was the place she wanted to live. Vectorus agreed with her decision and they would move in the following week.
Ambassador Outaforium’s carriage was on the side of the road and he was looking at the city from the hillside. When Leuquotus and Vectorus drove up in the governor’s carriage. “Outaforium how are you, do you need assistance” questioned the governor. Outaforium turned to them and said “No, just taking in the view. But I would like to talk with Vectorus about the things he was mentioning at the meeting. Could we have a chat at my residence to go over a few things.” “Yes, that would be fine. What about tomorrow morning” replied Outaforium. “Yes, tomorrow morning will be good” said Vectorus. After the brief discussion Leuquotus and Vectorus continued on their way.
The next morning Vectorus was at the Ambassador residence “Vectorus I was asked by the Star people that they wanted to meet you” said Outaforium. “Let me think about it and I will get back to you” said Vectorus. When suddenly hearing a strange noise, they looked up and saw a flying ship of 75 feet in diameter coming down and landing near them. Vectorus stood quiet as he looked over to the side of the vessel where a door opened and 3 Star people walked out and approached them. They were short with larger than normal heads and skinny bodies, with longer than normal arms with 3 fingers on their hands and 3 toes on their feet. Then Outaforium welcomed them “Greetings Zeuyu, Zor 2, Zor 3 my fellow travelers” then looking to his right “This is Vectorus the architect engineer I have told you about”.
Speaking in the same language as the ambassador the leader of the group began to talk “I am Zeuyu and these are my fellow travelers Zor 2 and Zor 3. We are from a distant planet of Xertonal which is in another part of the galaxy, far, far away. We are learning about this planet and its peoples. One of things that make us different that the other species of space travelers is we share our knowledge for the betterment of others” said Zeuyu.
Sensing something was about to happen Vectorus says “I am a person of simple means who respect knowledge as you. There is much to learn and things to do. I would prefer to do them here” said Vectorus. Without answering his statement, Zeuyu response was “What we will show you will not take up much of your time, so to speak. You will be amazed at the things that are being done in this window of time” said Zeuyu.
“I sense I have no say in what is going to happen and not sure where you will be taking me, but I do know of what you say is true.” said Vectorus as he was transformed from where he was standing to within one of the ship’s rooms. Looking around Vectorus sees Zor 2 “Where are the others” asked Vectorus. “My fellow travelers are in a different part of the ship and the Ambassador is back at his residence.
Touching his lead finger on the wall a screen appears. Touching the screen once again a view of the outside world is moving very fast. “We are traveling very fast in your way of thinking and within these seconds that we have been talking we have traveled thousands of mile across the surface of this planet. Beside the here and now, we also can travel from what has been, to what will be. It is the vortex of the 4th dimension that I speak of” said Zor 2. “You mean your ship can travel through time” questioned Vectorus. “Yes” answered Zor 2 before giving an example. “Below is the Pyramids of Egypt they have been constructed in your time period Vectorus” said Zor 2 as Vectorus stared at the smoothness of the surface and the precise angle of all four edges leading to a point at the apex.
Looking closer Vectorus noticed the pyramids had 8 sides instead of 4 by a slight angulation of each side toward its middle, like a slight vee. “The sun rays being absorbed into the smooth surface of the sides and is being transferred from the surface and channeled inward and is being converted into electrical charge” explained Zor 2. Then Vectorus noticed the space ship is situated over the tallest pyramid. “The ship is replenishing it’s energy supply from the sun.” said Zor 2. Vectorus stood silent as he took in the magnitude of what was being explained to him.
“To build this structure we used Phi in our formulation and left that mathematical formula here in Egypt for others to find and use” said Zor 2. “It must have took many men and a long time to complete this structure” replied Vectorus. “We used levitation to move and insert the heavy and light blocks of stone for the inner and outer parts of the structure. It took about a six months with six ships” answered Zor 2. “There is an inner passage way, where looking out at a certain time during the night you can see the 3 stars of the Belt of Orion” explained Zor 2.
Zor 2 then pressed the screen and they were hovering over Etobiius. “We are back Vectorus. Outaforium had mentioned that you were in the process of looking for a new site for Etobiius to move too” said Zor 2. “Yes that is true” replied Vectorus. “Would you want to see some of the areas around here with us at some other time” asked Zor 2. “Why yes, from what I have seen that would be very advantageous for me to do so” answered Vectorus. “I will talk to Zeuyu and have Outaforium let you know of his decision. Then touching the screen again, Vectorus disappeared from the room and is standing on the ground where he and the ambassador were standing before the spacecraft had landed. Looking up he sees the spacecraft disappeared into the sky.
